EDU 326 - Reading Foundations in the Middle School 3 credits This course allows preservice middle school teachers an opportunity to broaden their understanding of the processes by which children learn to read and write. Students will gain an understanding of the aspects of reading and the essential components of the reading process including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension, as well as how to organize and manage a literacy program. ESOL strategies are integrated into all methods, and access to a middle school classroom is required.
