EDU 334 - Reading Foundations in the Elementary Classroom 3 credits Prerequisite(s): EDU 226 Corequisite(s): EDU 320/321 , EDU 330 , EDU 341 Investigation of basic theories underlying traditional and recent approaches to the teaching of reading. Includes the study and evolution of the five essential components of the reading process: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension. ESOL strategies are integrated into all methods. Field experience is required.
