ECO 311 - Quantitative Methods in Economics 3 credits Corequisite(s): A grade of C or higher in ECO 201 - Principles of Macroeconomics ; MAT 201 - Introduction to Statistics This is an introductory course to the mathematical and statistical techniques used in economic analysis. Topics include the representation of economics hypotheses, sources and uses of economic data, probability, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis. Emphasis is on the application of statistical techniques to economic problems. The goal of this course is to teach students how to organize, analyze, and present numerical data, mainly through the use of Microsoft Excel, to support an idea.
