ENG 228 - Technical Writing and Communication 3 credits This course exposes students across different majors to the process of creating, shaping, and communicating technical information so their readers can use it safely, effectively, and efficiently. The main focus is to teach students how to use critical thinking and rhetorical skills to create effective technical and professional written and oral information for a specific audience/s in a variety of media within differing professional communities, such as healthcare, computer science, and data analysis. The course will focus on content creation, rhetorical analysis, and performance and real-time interactions/engagement with users/readers. Students will gain practical experience while developing insight into a variety of communication that can be taken into their professional careers. Through out-of-class and in-class exercises/projects, presentations, and discussions, students will develop skills that provide first-hand experience in creating written and oral content in real-world situations.
