COM 566 - Database Systems

3 credit hours

The primary goal of this course is to learn principles and practices of database management and database design. The course covers fundamentals for the logical design of database systems, the entity-relationship model, semantic model, relational model, hierarchical model, network model, and implementations of these models. Other topics include the design theory for relational databases, design of query languages and the use of semantics for query optimization, design and verification of integrity assertions, and issues on database security.
