BIO 200 - Applied Microbiology 3 credits Prerequisite(s): Grade of B or higher in BIO 150 /BIO 150L This course examines the interactions between microorganisms, humans and the environment to provide an introduction to essential principles and concepts in microbiology. The classification, characterization and molecular processes of micro-organisms will be explored. Topics of basic cellular biology and the processes of microbial metabolism, genetics, pathogenicity and anti-microbial approaches will be considered throughout the course. All students registered for this course must also be registered for BIO 200L Applied Microbiology Lab. This course is designed for health profession majors and does not count towards the Biology or Medical Humanities majors.
