The interdisciplinary Religious Major allows students to formally study religious traditions and religious aspects of human experience from the perspectives of Religious Studies and its many sub-disciplines. Diverse discursive religious beliefs, religious practices, sacred texts, myths, rituals, and other elements of religion are studied in their individual and communal aspects through the lenses of Religious Studies, History, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Gender and Ethnic Studies, the Humanities, and other disciplines allied with Religious Studies. The Religious Study major is highly customizable according to interest and easily combines with another major or minor with some courses counting toward both programs. A theology emphasis is also available. The knowledge and skills mastered in this program prepare students well for the numerous and varied private and public sector careers with which religion interfaces.
