Educational Leadership Concentration

Curriculum

The Master of Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership prepares educators to lead an educational institution, emphasizing the core knowledge and skills required to fully participate in educational governance at the school, district, and community level.

The curriculum is aligned with the national Professional Standards for Educational Leaders and the Florida Educational Leadership Standards.  Coursework in this program emphasizes three core areas of study:  instructional leadership, school operations, and school leadership.  The 30 credit hour program may be completed in as little as 12-18 months online and includes a minimum of 260 fieldwork hours

Students can choose to take either the FL state approved program which leads directly to educational leadership certification in Florida or they may choose the multi-state program which leads to a masters in educational leadership and then leaves specific state licensure requirements up to the student and their state's department of education.

Candidates in the Florida state approved program must pass the required Florida educational leadership certification examination  to gain eligibility for degree conferral for the Florida State approved program.  Students in the multistate program will take the test in their respective state after degree conferral. Students will have access to a free FELE prep course that also helps multistate students prepare for the Praxis.

Our students find success as vice assistant principals, principals, and administrators in school districts. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the Department of Education for their state to verify that their state will accept the coursework from Saint Leo.
