Master of Education: Exceptional Student Education and Reading

The MED with ESE and Reading is for current licensed teachers who wish to advance their education and increase their knowledge base in the area of special education with a focus on reading at either the elementary or secondary level. It has been designed to provide the knowledge base needed for educators who wish to expand their areas of certification that includes special education and reading instruction in and out of Florida. Program requirements will be revised with national CEC and Reading standards with a focus on instruction for diverse learners with disabilities educated in elementary and secondary schools. Students will have the choice of elementary or secondary specialization that are parallel and will lead to opportunities to meet multiple state certification requirements. Students in the MED program will participate in field and internship experience where necessary and can be completed in students' current classroom. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the Department of Education for their state to verify that their state will accept the coursework from Saint Leo.
