EDU 334 - Reading Foundations in the Elementary Classroom 3 credits Prerequisite(s): EDU 226 Corequisite(s): EDU 320/321 , EDU 330 , EDU 341 , and EDU 332 Investigation of basic theories underlying traditional and recent approaches to the teaching of reading. Includes the study and evolution of the five essential components of the reading process: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension. ESOL strategies are integrated into all methods. Field experience is required.
