EDU 454 - Social Studies Methods in the Middle and Secondary School 3 credits Prerequisite(s): EDU 226 or EDU 328 , EDU 228 , EDU 336 , and EDU 350 Corequisite(s): EDU 333 , EDU 340 , and EDU 450/455 This course focuses on the knowledge, skills, and instructional methods needed to teach Social Studies in the secondary schools . Students will review the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards in history, geography, civics, and economics as well as pro-social and multicultural education for grades 5-12. Students will also apply knowledge of ESOL Standards and the Accomplished Practices as they plan and teach lessons, and design a multicultural/social studies thematic unit. Students will implement the lessons created while in the practicum ( ). EDU 450/455
