EDU 454 - Social Studies Methods in the Middle and Secondary School

3 credits
Prerequisite(s): EDU 226  or EDU 328 , EDU 228 , EDU 336 , and EDU 350  
Corequisite(s): EDU 333 , EDU 340 , and EDU 450/455  
This course focuses on the knowledge, skills, and instructional methods needed to teach Social Studies in the secondary schools. Students will review the Florida State Standards in history, geography, civics, and economics as well as pro-social and multicultural education for grades 5-12.  Students will also apply knowledge of ESOL Standards and the Accomplished Practices as they plan and teach lessons, and design a multicultural/social studies thematic unit.  Students will implement the lessons created while in the practicum ( ).
